Subtle Ways to Observe Ostara

Ostara falls on Thursday March 19, 2020. This year is a very turbulent year. The world is witnessing a pandemic, and many households are in Quarantine. We could all do with a little magic, even if we’re not doing large scale grandiose rituals.

Subtle Ways
Ostara is a celebration of spring, which is a time of new growth and rebirth. Because of this, anything that makes you feel rejuvenated or renewed can be an Ostara ritual, with a little intention! A bath, beginning a new project, starting a new health and wellness journey, can all be a great and subtle celebration of Ostara!

Because Ostara is already a time of new beginnings, as well as fertility, one tradition that many families (including mine) have is to write your goals and intentions for the year on an egg, and bury it in your garden!

Now is a great time to plant seeds or start a garden (whether a small bowl of succulents inside, or a large vegetable garden in the yard). Especially planting with intention. Visualize the seed as a wish or request you wish to see grow over time (Self love, confidence, focus, etc) and watch as that intention manifests as a sprout, and then a flowering plant.

Brew some herbal tea, sweetened with honey, and reflect on your goals and inner self musings!

Meditate outside!

Decorate your altar (or dresser or counter) with flowers!

Wear spring colors, breezy fabrics, or a flower crown to connect with spring!
